The craft behind it
The kikoy is a light, striped cotton cloth from the Kenyan coast, worn as a wrap and loved as a beach towel. The kanga carries a Swahili saying printed into its design. The checked shuka is the iconic red cloth associated with the Maasai. Together they're some of the most practical and recognisable textiles in East Africa.
Perfect for
- Beach, travel and holiday wear
- Picnic blankets and sofa throws
- Cultural events and celebrations
- Gifts for friends abroad
Care tips
Most cotton textiles wash well in cold water on a gentle cycle. Wash bright colours separately for the first few washes and dry in the shade to keep them vivid.
